Issue #6 Design Your Learning
Learning Yoga, A free ultra-modern coding school, MIT Challenge & more!
Hi friends,
How is it October already? I feel this year is both the longest and the shortest in history.
All of us have gone through a life-altering transition the past 8 months; some of you have grown their businesses, learned new skills, started new jobs, and pivoted your life in the face of the pandemic. So cheers for all the growth and accomplishment!
Estimated reading time:
3 minutes 45 seconds
This week I couldn’t find the time to curate resources for a new skill. I’m still figuring out how to efficiently run this newsletter and manage my own learning and work.
So in today’s issue, I’m exploring a different + shorter format where I share the best articles, tools, and videos on learning and personal growth.
💡 Let's Dive In
A question for you:
What is that
1 skill
that you can learn in October which will help you immensely in your business or career?
🎙 What I’m Learning
I just finished my 2 months of Yoga Teacher Training Course yesterday. Learning and teaching yoga on Zoom is challenging. And Zoom fatigue is real, I was averaging over 25 hours each week.
Nonetheless, I will be a certified yoga teacher shortly (HMU if you want to be my practice students). Teaching is surely the highest form of learning.I’m learning to play Harmonica. I bought one a year ago and finally got started through these tutorials this week.
📋 Cool Courses
Universities around the world just launched 900 free online courses that you can take from your home. Use your downtime to pick up some new skills – straight from world-class professors.

42AbuDhabi
An upcoming peer-to-peer coding school in Abu Dhabi will have no traditional classrooms, teachers, or tuition fees. It will remain open 24/7 and students will learn from each other. There will be no courses and students will complete a series of real-world projects as they learn.

How do you get in?
By playing e-games 😲
The games are designed to gauge logic, motivation, thought processing, and establish coding potential.
Highly recommend registering just to play the games and give your brains something fun to practice your memory and critical thinking skills. It lasts 2 hours.

Adjacent skills: how to widen your career perspective
While deep expertise in a given domain can lead to a successful career, it is also a more rigid approach which may limit the number of lateral opportunities. In contrast, adjacent skills can open doors and foster serendipity in a career.
MIT Challenge
Scott Young decided to try to learn MIT’s 4-year undergraduate computer science curriculum in 12 months, without taking any classes. He successfully passed the final exams for 33 classes and completed the programming projects in less than a year. Definitely read more about this crazy challenge.
Scott used the Feynman Technique to learn faster, which revolves around explaining a concept in simple language as if you were teaching it to someone else.
